coastal engagement shoot

July 3, 2009 by heatherparker

before their wedding on the 24th of this month, michelle and tom wanted to meet to do a practice shoot since neither of them have never been in front of a professional photographer. michelle scouted out this kitschy coastal location and we saw many painted rocks, most of them were covered with short messages of love. i wonder if tom will come back in the wee hours and paint a message for michelle in time for their wedding.

who wants tom to paint something for michelle!?!? comment below!

lots of natural smiles, i think they are at ease with the camera!

we found what we thought was a time capsule but who knows. whatever it was, it wouldn’t budge and was staying shut.

along with my series of little vignettes of people, here’s one of their shoes. shoes show everyone’s personality.

we also found a nice arrangement of stones with a spot in the middle for a fire pit.

i wrapped up the shoot with a nice silhouette of the couple.

jackie & mike’s engagement shoot

July 1, 2009 by heatherparker

on a weekday afternoon, i shot jackie and mike’s engagement session entirely with natural light. we had really great colors to work with that were enhanced by the late afternoon color cast. i’m excited for their chicago wedding this autumn at the newly renovated mart plaza. thanks jackie and mike for such an incredible afternoon! for a full gallery of jackie and mike’s engagement pictures, click here.

an entertaining wedding

June 28, 2009 by heatherparker

dannette and charles recently tied the knot. they were a very entertaining couple and even had my second shooter and i on the dancefloor (there will be no photos posted of this!) the bride, like many, made it clear that she did not want cake in her face. at this wedding, the groom surprised us all with his own cake smash. what a good sport!

frisbee engagement shoot on the park

June 26, 2009 by heatherparker

sam and abigail go together like peas and carrots. when i suggested to bring some personality to their engagement shoot they opted to bring along a frisbee and had fun playing a brief game in the park. abigail coordinated the outfits and the blue tied in very nice with the water and sky. i always recommend that my clients both gals and guys wear a matte translucent powder, like l’oreal translucide. it tends to reduce any shine due to sweat and oils on hot, humid days. i will be photographing sam and abigail’s upcoming wedding at the historic stan mansion.

precursor to a beach wedding

June 26, 2009 by heatherparker

andy and sara contacted me to photograph their upcoming beach wedding. we met this week for a shoot on the same elevated tracks that matt & karen suggested for their own shoot. i am a big fan of using atypical locations for engagement shoots. see you in a month andy and sara!

lyman estate wedding photography

June 24, 2009 by heatherparker

here is a wedding with a great couple from vermont. gretchen and dave were married at the follen community church in lexington. the ceremony was in an octagonal  and even had readings from the little prince. here was ample natural light, lots of rich woodwork, and the benches were in a crescent-shape towards the altar. the reception was held at the lyman estate in waltham where the couple made great use of outdoor tented dining followed by dancing in the mansion. there were smaller break-out rooms which made this venue a unique and comfortable setting to photograph in. the location is a good example of a federal period country estate, and is part of historic new england.

Míele USA architectural interiors photography

June 22, 2009 by heatherparker

I was recently hired by Míele USA for a freelance project. Miele is a high-end appliances manufacturer based in Germany that I gained familiarity with though photographing residential architecture for years. Every so often, leading manufacturers make small changes in both the product design and the way they show the product, and I was called upon to document these changes for the company. It was interesting to see the wide range of commercial and residential appliacnes that could be custom fitted for the client or architect.

university engagement shoot

June 18, 2009 by heatherparker

pouring buckets aside, i got a personal tour of an old university while doing an engagement shoot. the couple had great backup ideas for locations that were significant to them in case of rain. we made use of some great architecture around campus. in just about a month, i will be photographing this couple’s wedding.

another perfect afternoon

June 5, 2009 by heatherparker

i met charlotte back in november when she hired me to photograph her october 2009 wedding. she and her fiance mike made time in their travel schedules to meet for a shoot before their wedding. the hour was full of natural smiles as i followed them around their neighborhood. i’m excited to know that these photographs will most likely make their way around the globe for friends and family to view, since charlotte is originally from singapore.
